the Life of Bee

Bronwyn Antoinette Greene Richards, an only child, was born on July 20, 1963, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She spent much of her childhood in Chicago, Illinois where she earned her high school diploma at Thornwood High School in 1981. Bee received her Bachelor’s Degree from Virginia State University in 1986 and a Master’s Degree from Lesley University in 2004. Bee fulfilled her love and creativity for art by becoming an art instructor at Joseph Neal Elementary School in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She was a bright starburst of energy, a loving daughter; nurturing mother to her two children, devoted wife; enthusiastic and creative art teacher; and a staunch community servant and advocate. She shared her talents and time with her church, Mountain Faith Ministries, her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, the Daughters of Isis and the Order of Eastern Star as well as other local community organizations.
Bee’s vibrant life was cut short on April 16, 2010 at the hands of her estranged husband. She was only 46 years old. The brutality of her death was so horrendous that her family was never able to see her again to say their final goodbyes. Two years after her death, Bee’s beloved mother passed away. Six years later, February 2016 her estranged husband, Bobby Dale Richards was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole and eight to 20 years added for use of a deadly weapon. Today, her children continue to mourn and heal from the violent and unbelievable crime.
